Introduction to Vespers (Week 4: Sunday - Evening Prayer I)

Psalm 130 is one of the songs pilgrims sang on their way to Jerusalem. Psalm 122 is sung when the Israelites reached Jerusalem; "...and now our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem."

As members of the New Jerusalem, the Church, we also are on our own pilgrimage towards the definite Jerusalem. Therefore, we make this psalm our own and pray it as we enter the Day of the Lord with the 1st Evening Prayer.

"I rejoiced when i heard them say;
Let us go to God's house." (Ps. 122:1)
